Well the footings are coming along nicely and with a fair wind (and not too much rain) the concrete bit will hopefully be going in in the next week or so. Certainly theres a rather large pile of steel and wood etc waiting to be laid. The outline looks incredibly small to us at the moment and its difficult to see that a whole house is in front of us - a lot of folks have reassured us that house building goes through phases of looking big and small - this definately a small phase, but once the framing is up it will look big again.

On another subject A funny thing happened to me this week - I parked in the Christchurch Park car park as I was in to work for just a short shift and couldn't find anywhere for the car !! Unfortunately we had a bit of an emergency at work and it ended up that I was much later than expected and so when I went to collect the car lo and behold it was dark and the car park gates had a big padlock on it.... No getting the car to get home then!! I managed by the kindness of a colleague and a call to Ben to get home - of course thinking that the car would be wearing a fine at the very least and perhaps may have even been towed! (gulp). Imagine my amazement when at 8 am the following morning I had a call from the car park man - ooohhh dear I thought now I am for it!!! He had used the Benzmowing phone number on the side of the car to contact me. I explained what had happened and the guy rather than telling me off said that if this was to happen again to give him a call (he gave me his mobile number) and he would come and let me out! oh and by the way the fine for overnight parking was waived ..... so it is rather refreshing to learn that there are some really good folks out there - thumbs up for the Christchurch Parks Car Park Man :-)
